Associate Lead Disaster Recovery Specialist

Role Purpose
The Disaster Recovery Specialist provides subject matter expertise for the organization's disaster recovery program. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, governing, and continuously improving disaster recovery capabilities to ensure critical business services can recover within agreed recovery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Recovery Strategy and Planning
- Define and maintain disaster recovery standards, frameworks, and best practices.
- Develop recovery strategies for applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, and data services.
- Validate and govern RTOs, RPOs, and other critical recovery metrics.
- Ensure recovery plans accurately reflect business and technical dependencies.
Testing and Readiness
- Lead disaster recovery exercises, simulations, and failover testing activities.
- Assess test outcomes and drive remediation of identified gaps.
- Develop recovery playbooks, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Ensure recovery teams maintain operational readiness.
Governance and Compliance
- Establish recovery governance processes and reporting structures.
- Support internal and external audit reviews.
- Monitor compliance with resilience standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver leadership reporting and readiness dashboards.
Incident Support
- Provide recovery leadership during major incidents and disaster declarations.
- Coordinate technical recovery teams and key stakeholders.
- Manage recovery risks, dependencies, communications, and escalations.
- Lead post-incident reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Advanced understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity disciplines.
- Strong expertise in infrastructure, networking, virtualization, cloud services, databases, and storage technologies.
- Experience with backup, replication, and recovery platforms.
- Risk assessment and business impact analysis expertise.
- Project leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead teams during crisis and recovery situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure Engineering, Technology Resilience, or Operational Risk.
- Knowledge of industry frameworks such as ISO 22301, NIST, and ITIL.
- Certifications such as:
- CBCP
- EDRP
- CISSP
- ITIL
- Cloud platform certifications
