Job Title: Zscaler L1 Support Engineer / Analyst

Role Overview

The Zscaler L1 Engineer is responsible for monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and supporting Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) environments. This role involves handling initial support tickets, performing basic configurations, and escalating complex issues to higher support levels.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA) alerts, dashboards, and logs for security and connectivity issues
  • Provide Level 1 support for incident management, service requests, and user issues
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for:
    • Web access issues
    • VPN/ZPA connectivity
    • Authentication (SSO, MFA)
    • URL filtering and policy-related issues
  • Handle ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.) and ensure SLA compliance
  • Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams with proper documentation
  • Assist in user onboarding/offboarding in Zscaler
  • Validate policy changes and basic configurations under guidance
  • Generate daily/weekly reports on incidents and system health
  • Maintain documentation of known issues and resolutions

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPN)
  • Familiarity with Zscaler products (ZIA, ZPA) – basic level
  • Knowledge of proxy, firewall, and web security concepts
  • Understanding of authentication methods (AD, SAML, LDAP)
  • Basic troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Experience with ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to cloud security platforms
  • Basic knowledge of SSL inspection, PAC files, and traffic forwarding
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel)
  • Certification (optional but preferred):
    • Zscaler Certified Associate (ZCCA)
    • Network certifications (CCNA, etc.)

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of experience in network/security support
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field

  • Ability to work in a 24x7 support environment (if required)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Strong customer handling skills
