Job Description:

 

The Solutions Architect – R&D Configuration requires in-depth knowledge of documentation of product design & development of medical devices, using SolidWorks tool. Typical job responsibilities include (but are not limited to) working with the product management groups from both local & global locations to understand the build of the test article, analyze, interpret, and modify 2D and 3D engineering drawings and build models.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, update, and manage complex BOM structures in engineering systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Maintain, update, and manage complex Bill of Materials (BOM) structures in engineering systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implement and oversee configuration control processes to ensure that product configurations are accurately documented and controlled, while maintaining industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Good understanding of the complete solution offering from requirements, design document, material selection, creating complex simulations & risk analysis.
  • Creation and management of new material numbers within ERP system, consistent with existing materials management processes.  
  • Monitor and verify data integrity within ERP systems, proactively identifying discrepancies or errors in BOM and working to rectify them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all BOM-related processes align with industry regulations, quality standards and internal policies, supporting audit readiness and compliance assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including Engineering, Quality assurance and Regulatory affairs to assess the impact of proposed changes to product configuration. Ensure changes are reviewed,  approved, and documented.
  • Execute to documentation of existing configuration control procedures, change management processes and BOM related guidelines. Propose and implement solutions to optimize time to implementation.
  • Using knowledge, solves problems, recommends architecture, and processes, recommends changes to existing architecture and processes, and exceptions to architecture, technology, and process standards globally.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within BOM management workflow. Propose and implement solutions to enhance configuration control practices.
  • Provide training and guidelines to team members and stakeholders on BOM management practices within ERP systems, facilitating a culture of configuration management and excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of work experience in configuration control or related role in medical device or similar regulated industry.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert in the use of SolidWorks tool.
  • Expert level knowledge in materials, processes, and sources applicable to medical devices.
  • Good knowledge in materials, processes, and sources applicable to medical devices.
  • Proficiency in SAP-ECTR, S4 HANA with a strong focus on BOM management.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards in medical device industry, like ISO 13485, 43 FR 31 508, GMP and FDA regulations.
  • Experience with change management processes and tools.
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment in a global organization and to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with high flexibility and rapid response time.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced & complex environment with a self-motivated work ethic; utilize sound judgment with an ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions and resolving complex problems related to general & technical aspects of the job. Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, policies, and business practices to achieve results.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to maintain data accuracy & integrity.
  • Proven track record of successful configuration control implementations and process improvements.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional on – call work required
