Business Analyst - Agile/Scrum Environment

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to serve as the critical bridge between our clients and development teams. The ideal candidate will excel at converting high-level epics into detailed user stories, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring clear communication of requirements to Scrum teams. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Agile methodologies and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Management & Story Creation
- Convert epics into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria, ensuring they are testable and deliverable within sprint cycles
- Collaborate with Product Owners to decompose complex business requirements into manageable development tasks
- Create detailed functional specifications, wireframes, and process flow documentation to support development teams
- Prioritize user stories based on business value and technical dependencies
Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as primary liaison with clients to gather, analyze, and document business requirements
- Conduct requirement gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to understand business needs
- Translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications that development teams can understand
- Present findings, recommendations, and project updates to clients and internal stakeholders
Scrum Team Collaboration
- Explain and clarify requirements to Scrum teams during sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily standups
- Act as the technical bridge between Product Owners and development teams, especially when POs lack technical background
- Support sprint planning by providing clarity on requirement complexity, dependencies, and acceptance criteria
- Participate in sprint reviews and retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement
Process Improvement & Analysis
- Analyze current business processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements
- Create and maintain business process models to illustrate current and future states
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that align with business objectives
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 7-8 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in Agile/Scrum environments
- Proven experience in converting epics to user stories and working with product backlogs
- Strong background in client-facing roles with excellent stakeholder management skills
- Experience working directly with Scrum teams and participating in Agile ceremonies
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Agile/Scrum certifications (CSPO, CBAP, PMI-PBA) preferred
Essential Skills
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework
- Proficiency in requirements gathering and analysis techniques
- Experience with user story writing and acceptance criteria definition
- Knowledge of business process modeling tools and documentation standards
- Familiarity with project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.)
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Exceptional client communication skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships
- Strong presentation and workshop facilitation abilities
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business language and vice versa
- Excellent written communication for creating clear, detailed documentation
Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Attention to detail with ability to identify process improvements
- Data analysis skills to support evidence-based recommendations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in software development lifecycle and technical architecture understanding
- Background in quality assurance and test case development
- Industry-specific domain knowledge relevant to our business
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
- Experience working with distributed or remote teams
