SAP HANA DBA
Job responsibilities include:
- Integration of SAP HANA into different remote systems.
- Conducts monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of SAP HANA systems.
- Troubleshooting complex CPU, memory issues and other issues on various HANA systems.
- Sets up alerts and checks to detect potential problems creeping up, and use knowledge and skills to prevent them from happening.
- HANA system administration using SAP HANA Cockpit and HANA Studio.
- Adding systems to HANA cockpit and configure SSO for HANA systems.
- Implementing SAP HANA Table management techniques - data compression, table partitioning, compression techniques, NSE and load/unload table into memory.
- HANA Installation/Upgrades
- Backup setup using Backint, Backups/restores and HANA refresh of Test systems.
- DDBoost upgrades for the HANA landscape.
- Ongoing performance tuning of HANA systems using EWA, HANA Notes, TPO, TPV, etc.
- Basis support on day-to-day issues when needed which includes migrating changes into Production systems, System Refreshes, RFC issues, Java/ABAP issues, etc.
- Being the go to person for HANA issues where Basis team members need additional help.
Skills / Experience:
Must Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related.
- 4+ years of experience as a HANA Database Administrator and 3+ years of SAP Basis administration experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience using SAP transactions, HANA Studio and Cockpit to monitor health of HANA.
- Experience with the running of trace and analyze the log files generated for further diagnosis.
- Experience managing users and roles in SAP HANA system.
- Excellent sql skills in writing new queries and modification of sap note queries from 1969700 while troubleshooting complex issues.
- Familiarity of Linux/Unix/Windows systems.
- Willing to work occasional weekends and be on a rotating on-call schedule.
- Experience working with HANA System Replication including setup, issues and takeovers.
- Ability to lead critical incident calls involving complex HANA issues.
- Experience working with issues related to Garbage Collection, Blocking transactions, Expensive sql statements, hints, etc.
- Experience working with tools like SharePoint, One Note, MobaXterm, HANA Cockpit, Capture and Replay and more.
Nice to Have
- Good understanding and troubleshooting of below HANA skills-
- HANA DB Architecture & Internal operations
- HSR and failover with/without SUSE HA cluster
- CPU, Memory, Blocking and complex issues
- Backup & Recovery
- HANA Security, EWA, TPO reports
- Shell scripting skills.
- LaMa setup experience for HANA systems.
- SUSE and Service Guard Cluster experience with failovers and outages.
- Experience building Insight Dashboards for Backups, System Availability and more KPI’s.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve system issues quickly to minimize downtime in production environments.
- Skilled in identifying underlying problems and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence
- Skilled in monitoring and tuning system performance across the SAP landscape to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Ability to automate routine tasks and system checks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors
- Lead and drive sap run team mini projects on their own and able to work independently on tasks assigned to them.
