Job description:

SAP IBP Consultant – S/4HANA Transformation

Experience: 5+ years
Location: Gurgaon

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SAP IBP Consultant to support a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation program for a global medical device manufacturing organisation.

The consultant will work across demand and supply planning processes, with a strong focus on SAP IBP, integration with SAP ECC/S/4HANA, and downstream MRP execution. The role requires a strong understanding of how planning decisions generated in IBP translate into execution within the ERP landscape.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Time-Series and/or Order-Based Planning in SAP IBP, along with a solid understanding of SAP ECC/S/4HANA MRP processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure and support SAP IBP Demand Planning and Supply Planning solutions.
  • Work on Time-Series Planning and/or Order-Based Planning scenarios within SAP IBP.
  • Configure and support planning operators, key figures, planning levels, planning areas, planning heuristics and related planning functionality.
  • Design and implement supply planning scenarios considering demand, supply constraints, capacity and inventory requirements.
  • Support demand planning processes, including forecast generation, forecast adjustments, consensus planning and forecast validation.
  • Define and execute approaches to measure and improve forecast accuracy.
  • Validate end-to-end planning flows to ensure changes in demand are correctly propagated through supply planning and downstream ERP processes.
  • Design and support integration between SAP IBP and SAP ECC/S/4HANA.
  • Work with both master data and transactional data integration between IBP and the ERP environment.
  • Participate in end-to-end integration testing to validate that plans generated in IBP are correctly transferred to and executed within ECC/S/4HANA.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies between IBP supply plans and ECC/S/4HANA MRP results, including shortages, exception messages and planning inconsistencies.
  • Analyse the complete planning flow from demand → IBP supply planning → ERP transfer → MRP execution to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with SAP PP/MM and other functional teams to resolve planning and integration issues.
  • Support configuration and troubleshooting of SAP ECC/S/4HANA MRP, including MRP types, lot-sizing procedures, planning strategies, scheduling and special procurement.
  • Participate in SIT, UAT, regression testing, cutover and post-go-live support.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand planning requirements, validate solutions and drive process improvements.
  • Conduct workshops, requirement-gathering sessions and solution walkthroughs with business and technology teams.
  • Prepare functional specifications, configuration documentation, test scenarios and process documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in SAP Supply Chain Planning, with strong hands-on experience in SAP IBP.
  • Strong functional experience in SAP IBP Demand Planning and Supply Planning.
  • Hands-on experience with Time-Series Planning and/or Order-Based Planning in SAP IBP.
  • Strong understanding of planning operators, key figures, planning heuristics, planning levels and planning areas.
  • Practical experience designing and supporting demand and supply planning scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, forecast adjustments and forecast accuracy measurement.
  • Experience integrating SAP IBP with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA.
  • Good understanding of IBP master data and transactional data integration.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end planning process between IBP and ECC/S/4HANA MRP.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP ECC/S/4HANA MRP configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of MRP types, lot-sizing procedures, planning strategies, scheduling and special procurement.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly in identifying discrepancies between IBP planning results and ERP MRP execution.
  • Experience in end-to-end integration testing and validating planning results across IBP and ERP.
  • Strong experience working directly with business stakeholders, including requirement gathering, workshops, solution validation and UAT.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience working in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA migration/transformation programs.
  • Experience in global SAP template or rollout programs.
  • Knowledge of SAP CPI/integration technologies.
  • Exposure to SAP Analytics Cloud and advanced planning analytics.
  • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing supply-chain processes including demand planning, production planning, inventory management and procurement.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on SAP IBP functional consultant who can work beyond the IBP application itself and understand the complete planning ecosystem.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical experience across:

Demand Planning → Supply Planning → IBP → ECC/S/4HANA Integration → MRP → Execution

Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as the consultant will work closely with both business and technology teams.
