Job Description

 
Power BI Developer Required skills:
• Proven experience in developing enterprise Power BI solutions: Desktop, Service, gateways, and Power BI Report Server where applicable.  
• Strong DAX skills: calculated measures, advanced time-intelligence, context transition, and performance tuning.  
• Power Query / M development experience for data preparation and query folding optimizations.  
• SQL expertise (T-SQL or equivalent) and familiarity with data warehousing concepts (star schema, snowflake ..etc..).  
• Familiarity with Azure data services (Azure SQL Database, Data Bricks) and authentication models (Azure AD, service principals).  
• Solid understanding of governance, data security (RLS), sensitivity labels, and tenancy-level administration (for admin tasks).  
• Proven experience with Power BI Premium / capacity admin, deployment pipelines, and automation (ARM templates, CI/CD for Power BI).
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills; ability to transform business requirements into technical specifications and visuals.  
 Power BI Administrator — Admin activities & responsibilities
• Tenant governance & configuration — configure tenant settings (share settings, export options, content pack usage, external sharing), define and enforce organizational policies using the Power BI admin portal. Administrators must remain aware that admin roles are highly privileged.  
• Workspace & user management — create and manage workspaces, assign workspace roles, manage app publishing, and coordinate access with Azure AD and Microsoft 365 admin roles.  
• License and capacity management — manage Power BI licensing assignments, monitor and provision Premium capacity, configure capacity settings and scale as needed.  
• Monitoring, usage and audit — use Admin Monitoring workspace and audit logs to track adoption, usage patterns, high-volume artifacts, dataset refresh failures, and security incidents; produce operational reports for leadership.  
• Gateway management — install/configure and monitor on-premises data gateways, manage gateways clustering, credentials, and data source mapping for scheduled refreshes.  
• Security & compliance — apply sensitivity labels, tenant-level data classification, RLS enforcement, and coordinate with InfoSec for compliance  
• Backup / disaster recovery & operational runbooks — ensure processes exist for dataset backup (metadata/definitions), tenant change control, and runbooks for common incidents (refresh failures, capacity throttling).  
• Governance programs — implement a BI governance framework: asset inventory, naming conventions, certification lifecycle (promote datasets), and self-service guidelines for business users.   Support & training — provide operational support to report authors, coordinate uplift training, and maintain documentation and best-practice guidance for report developers and business consumers.
 
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., DP-600, PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst) or Azure data certifications.    
• Knowledge of Python/R for advanced analytics integrated into Power BI.  
• Experience managing large enterprise tenants and building governance frameworks.

  • Basic knowledge of customer's business processes- relevant technology platform or product.
  • Able to prepare process maps, workflows, business cases and simple business models in line with customer requirements with assistance from SME and apply industry standards/ practices in implementation with guidance from experienced team members.

Requirement Gathering and Analysis:

  • Working knowledge of requirement management processes and requirement analysis processes, tools & methodologies.
  • Able to analyse the impact of change requested/ enhancement/ defect fix and identify dependencies or interrelationships among requirements & transition requirements for engagement.

Product/ Technology Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of technology product/platform standards and specifications.
  • Able to implement code or configure/customize products and provide inputs in design and architecture adhering to industry standards/ practices in implementation.
  • Analyze various frameworks/tools, review the code and provide feedback on improvement opportunities.

Architecture tools and frameworks:

  • Working knowledge of architecture Industry tools & frameworks.
  • Able to identify pros/ cons of available tools & frameworks in market and use those as per Customer requirement and explore new tools/ framework for implementation.

Architecture concepts and principles:

  • Working knowledge of architectural elements, SDLC, methodologies.
  • Able to provides architectural design/ documentation at an application or function capability level and implement architectural patterns in solution & engagements and communicates architecture direction to the business.

Analytics Solution Design:

  • Knowledge of statistical & machine learning techniques like classification, linear regression modelling, clustering & decision trees.
  • Able to identify the cause of errors and their potential solutions.

Tools & Platform Knowledge:

  • Familiar with wide range of mainstream commercial & open-source data science/analytics software tools, their constraints, advantages, disadvantages, and areas of application.
