We are looking for an SMS Platform Engineer with hands-on Twilio experience to maintain and extend a production SMS/MMS/RCS/Voice messaging platform integrated with Cvent and Adobe Campaign Manager (Epsilon/ACM) for a pharmaceutical client's event engagement program. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining serverless functions, conversational flows, data pipelines, and integrations, delivering scalable, compliant, production-ready messaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Twilio Functions (Node.js) for SMS/MMS handling, keyword routing, consent management, and third-party API integrations, with proper error handling, retry logic, and rate limiting.
• Build and debug Twilio Studio Flows — keyword routing, function widgets with parameter mapping, Content Templates, and HTTP callbacks to Epsilon/ACM.
• Manage Twilio Sync Maps as the real-time data layer for contacts, consent tracking, and audit logs — multi-map data models, upsert patterns, and batch pagination.
• Manage Content Template Builder for pre-approved SMS/MMS/RCS/WhatsApp templates, including versioning across QA/PROD and SID coordination with upstream systems.
• Configure Messaging Services — sender pools (short code, toll-free, 10DLC), Advanced Opt-Out, link shortening with branded domains, click tracking, and callbacks.
• Set up RCS Business Messaging (sender setup, rich cards, carrier registration) and use the Lookup API for phone validation, line status, and reassigned number checks.
• Build data export pipelines (SFTP exports, message log exports, Event Streams) and handle MMS media processing and cleanup.
• Investigate production incidents — analyze message/call logs, identify error codes and carrier behavior, and produce RCA reports.
• Maintain technical documentation (TRDs, functional specs, data models, UAT test cases) and manage deployments across QA and PROD sub-accounts, including number porting and toll-free verification.
  
  Required Skills
  Programming: Strong JavaScript / Node.js, async/await, REST API development and consumption
  Twilio Platform: Functions, Studio, Sync Maps/Lists, Messaging Services, Content Template Builder, Lookup v2 API, Messages API, Event Streams
  Messaging: SMS/MMS/RCS, GSM-7 vs UCS-2 encoding, segment calculation, A2P messaging, carrier behavior
  Compliance: A2P 10DLC registration process and timelines; TCPA consent handling; CTIA guidelines; double opt-in; carrier-level vs Twilio-level vs application-level opt-out behavior (US); Advanced Opt-Out limitations; pharma adverse event (AE) reporting
  Integration: Third-party webhook payloads (e.g. Cvent-style event data), bi-directional integration with marketing automation platforms, Basic Auth / API Key authentication, JSON and form-urlencoded payloads
  Fundamentals: Debugging via logs (Function, Studio execution, message logs); API rate limits, payload size constraints, and timeout handling in serverless environments
  
  Tools: Postman, Twilio Console, JIRA, Git
  
  Good to Have
  
  Twilio Organizations, subaccounts, and domain verification
  Pharma/healthcare SMS program experience (TCPA, FDA AE reporting, HIPAA awareness)
  Adobe Journey Optimizer, Epsilon/ACM, or similar marketing automation platforms
  SIP Trunking / Twilio Voice knowledge for cross-channel debugging
  
  Qualifications
  
  1+ years hands-on experience with Twilio or similar cloud communication platforms
  Experience in agile teams with JIRA-based project management
  Strong written and verbal communication — client-facing documentation and stakeholder discussions
