Job description:
Experience required: 7+ years
Requirements :
Senior QA Engineer – Platform
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Senior QA Engineer to define, automate, and execute platform-level quality strategies. The role focuses on validating the reliability, resilience, security, scalability, and production readiness of mission-critical cloud-native services across Kubernetes environments.
The ideal candidate combines strong quality engineering experience with core platform engineering fundamentals and practical expertise in chaos engineering, resiliency testing, observability, and failure recovery. The role works closely with platform, SRE, DevSecOps, security, infrastructure, and product teams to build quality into the platform lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute platform quality strategies covering functional, integration, end-to-end, performance, scalability, reliability, security, and upgrade validation.
- Build automated validation frameworks and integrate them with CI/CD pipelines to provide continuous feedback on platform readiness.
- Design and execute controlled chaos experiments for infrastructure, network, storage, application, and service-dependency failures.
- Validate high availability, failover, self-healing, backup and restore, disaster recovery, rollback, and graceful degradation capabilities.
- Test Kubernetes-based platform services including networking, service mesh, storage, identity and access, secrets, certificates, registries, databases, messaging, and observability.
- Validate platform installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, version compatibility, and lifecycle operations across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Assess monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, health checks, and operational dashboards to ensure failures are detected and diagnosed effectively.
- Perform reliability, capacity, load, and endurance testing; identify failure modes, bottlenecks, and single points of failure.
- Drive production-readiness reviews, quality gates, defect prevention, root-cause analysis, and measurable improvements in release confidence.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve testability, resilience patterns, operational runbooks, and platform supportability.
- Use modern automation and AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to improve test design, execution, analysis, and reporting.
- Share technical knowledge and mentor engineers in platform quality, chaos testing, and resiliency practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, platform engineering, SRE, or reliability engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience testing distributed, containerized, and cloud-native systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, Linux, networking, storage, and core infrastructure concepts.
- Strong hands-on experience testing distributed, containerized, and cloud-native systems.
- Experience designing automated test frameworks using Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, or a similar language.
- Experience validating APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, databases, and messaging platforms.
- Practical experience with chaos engineering, fault injection, failover testing, and recovery validation.
- Experience with performance, load, scalability, and endurance testing.
- Experience integrating automated validation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, systems thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with chaos engineering tools such as LitmusChaos, Chaos Mesh, Gremlin, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Tempo, or equivalent solutions.
- Knowledge of resilience patterns including retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, load shedding, rate limiting, and graceful degradation.
- Experience validating Kubernetes networking, service mesh, software-defined storage, identity, certificate management, and platform security controls.
- Experience with hybrid environments spanning on-premises infrastructure and AWS or another public cloud.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code, GitOps, configuration management, and secure software development practices.
- Understanding of SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, MTTD, MTTR, recovery objectives, and production-readiness practices.
- Experience using Generative AI or agentic tools to improve quality engineering productivity.
- Experience working in Agile product-development teams supporting business-critical platforms.
